Simply Rest

In my previous blog post, I shared how I struggle with rest because I don’t allow myself to take it easy. I have too many things to do and I must conquer my to-do list. If you’re like me, I need a procedure or formula to help me to rest. I’ve tried many things and what has worked for me is described in the infographics below. By following these 3 simple steps, I’ve been able to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

Do you feel tired and burnt out? The goal is not to just survive in this world, but to thrive. Let’s practice self care and take time out of our busy schedules to find rest in 3 simple steps!

1. Give yourself permission to rest. They key is not to feel guilty about resting. By doing that, you can give yourself permission to rest. Take a day or even a few hours to catch your breath and renew yourself. When you feel rested, you will be able to thrive in this world.

2. Plan how you’re going to rest and mark it on your calendar. What’s your happy place that makes you feel relaxed and puts a smile on your face? Is it going on a retreat or pampering yourself at the spa? Whatever it is, choose an activity that you truly enjoy. Make sure you mark it on your calendar so you don’t forget.

3. Protect your rest time. Rest is just as important as any other thing and must be a priority. Don’t schedule anything during this dedicated rest time.

Sounds simple, right?! Unfortunately, I have failed at it many times because I missed the last step. It’s easy to allow other important tasks replace my rest time and I end up putting “me time” to the way side. That is why it’s so important to protect your time.

This is where you can be a kid once again and say 2 simple words, NO. I don’t know why kids can say it so easily where they don’t even think twice about it, but as an adult, I have a hard time saying “no” and setting healthy boundaries for myself. Set boundaries and make rest is a priority in your schedule.

Rest is just as important as any other task because it will help you to be alive and well again. I hope this will help you to find rest by following these 3 simple steps.
