Do you feel tired and burnt out these days? Do you want to just stop and smell the roses?
Living in a busy world, I’m always on the go, completing task after task that I just can’t stop to catch my breath. By running and pushing myself harder, my mind, body, and soul ultimately crashes. Just like Psalm 23:2, God “makes me lie down in green pastures” and “he leads me beside quiet waters.” God shows me how to slow down and rest. As I learn to rest, “he refreshes my soul” (Psalm 23:3). Through this difficult lesson of slowing down and resting, I ensure to incorporate self care into my daily life.
One of my favorite activities of self care is going on a retreat. It refreshes and restores my mind, body, and soul by helping me to unwind from the daily grind. Every quarter, I schedule a silent retreat to reflect and connect with God. My favorite retreat spot is Be Still Ranch in El Dorado Hills, which is a two hour drive from my house and well worth the drive. My friends, Delna and Vince, host silent retreats at their ranch to give people space and time to renew their tired soul and spirit. I enjoy the slower pace of life where I can stop and smell the roses.
What does refreshment look like for you? Do something today to refresh your soul!
