Earlier this month, I attended my 1st ugly sweater party which was hosted by Celebrate You Coaching. Instead of buying a sweater, I decided to make my own out of materials around the house. So, I turned to Pinterest for ideas. Load and behold, I found a great looking ugly sweater that I thought could be the best looking sweater at the party. I knew I could nail it and recreate this sweater. To make it, I found my supplies in my Christmas decoration stash. My secret weapon was a hot glue gun to hold everything in place. Viola! It wasn’t exactly the ugliest sweater, but it was the brightest and most creative “ugly” sweater, which won me 1st prize for the ugly sweater contest.
If you’re going to an ugly sweater party, you can simply make an award winning “ugly” Christmas tree sweater! I’m going to show you how you can nail it. It’s simple to make and can be done in less than an hour. You can buy the materials at the dollar store, so it will cost less than $5 for all the materials.
Materials:
- A sweater
- Garland
- Plastic ornaments with hooks
- Star ornament
- Hot glue gun
- Christmas lights with battery pack
- Cardboard
- Find an old sweater that you don’t mind destroying.
- Put cardboard inside your sweater.
- Put garland on top of the sweater and shape it like a triangle. Cut off the excess garland.
- When you’re satisfied with the look of the garland, glue the garland onto the sweater with the hot glue gun. Make sure the garland is secure to the sweater.
- Put plastic ornaments on your garland with hooks. Use a variety of different colors ornaments to make your tree colorful. Decorate the sweater to your liking.
- Put a star ornament at the top of your tree.
- Put the battery packed Christmas lights on the garland. by weaving it through the garland. Turn on the light at the party.
I enjoyed the process of creating the ugly sweater and showing off my lovely sweater.
Merry Christmas! May you have lots of fun and laughter at your holiday party!
