Today is a day of love and celebration! It’s Valentine’s day and also Light Shine Brightly’s 2nd birthday. In honor of Valentine’s day, this blog was birthed out my love to encourage others.
Valentine’s day may be a day that’s full of happiness and love. Though today may be a commercial holiday, what makes Valentine’s day better than flowers and candy is two simple words: thank you.
A few days ago, I looked through my stash of greeting cards for a valentine’s card. I stumbled upon an accordion heart shaped card that had “thank you” printed on the front of the card. I thought this could be the perfect valentine’s card except for the words, “thank you.” As a result, I changed this card into a valentine’s day card with a stroke of a pen. The card title now read “Happy Valentine’s Day & Thank you for being a wonderful friend.” Inside the card, there were 4 accordion pages after the title page. At the top of the first page, I wrote “Dear friend’s name” and “I appreciate you because.” On each of the first three pages, I wrote down a reason why I appreciate my friend. On the very last page, I concluded that I’m thankful for my friend and signed my name.
Thank you to all the readers of my blog. You have given me a reason to express myself creatively and write from my heart. I appreciate those who have left sweet and encouraging comments on this blog and the blog’s Facebook and Instagram pages. You are my cheerleaders to keep me going when sometimes I lose sight of the goal. I admit that sometimes it’s not easy to be vulnerable and share topics publicly, but I still try to do it because I know there are many out there that struggle like I do. I can be the voice that connects with others.
As my gift to you, I created a valentine’s card that you can send to your loved ones to appreciate them. Fill in the blanks in the boxes.
